Saw a comment left inside of an app that has you pay them to send you emails about stuff to buy that went like this:
Although ___ is easy to use, in my opinion there are some features that I believe is a must and it is missing. Like:
1. Spam checker for the email headline
2. Split test
3. A simple if statement. If a person opens an email, send the person to another automation
4. Have a more advanced analytics dashboard.
I know that it is for content creators BUT nowadays having these features is a must. The email platforms are becoming more advanced every day. For that reason I believe ____ could be a bit more advanced.
====
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if this came from someone who doesn’t even know the fundamentals.
Spam checking an email headline… for what?
There are other factors that can determine if an email goes to spam or not… not just the email subject line.
Several years ago I created a deliverability checklist training on the other factors and how to go about testing them.
Next up…
Split test.
Boy o’ boy.
Is it even possible to split test an email?
Me says no – since I personally believe there are waaaaaay to many variables to take into consideration.
Who read the email, how long they been on the list, the day the opened the email, the time they opened the email, any influence of previous emails on their decision to open this email, where they found this email (spam folder, promotions tab, or primary inbox), the name of the person who sent the email, the email address of the person who sent the email, the first sentence of the email, and a whole bunch more.
Like what are we really measuring when split testing emails?
Opens?
Those incredibly inaccurate stats?
Clicks?
The same clicks that can easily be inflated if you have auto click subscribers on your list?
Or sales?
The number that actually matters in the grand scheme of things.
Automation.
Sure it is nice to know who opens and click a link in an email so you can put them on a different list or tag them, hell I teach it but I don’t do it nearly as much as I use too after plugging the numbers and seeing some inconsistent things going on.
The idea is sound though and can help make folks make more moolah with segmented lists, more on that later.
Having a more advanced analytics dashboard…
Ummm.
Why?
When it comes to email, I would think the only metrics that matter in most cases are, sub count, opens, clicks, unsubs.
Personally, I would take a “simple” email autoresponder over anything “advanced” now a days. Too many buttons to click on to send a simple plain text email, but I will make due.
The point?
Most of what people think they “need” to build an email based bidniz isn’t really needed at all.
Stick with the fundamentals.
Keep it black and white, simple.
Make sales.
To get started with building your email list, you can do what I share in this month’s issue of the Isaiah Jackson Letter…
